MoDOT: Traffic fatalities down five percent in 2019

The year 2019 saw a nearly five-percent decrease in traffic fatalities in Missouri.

A release from MoDOT says the number of deaths from crashes dropped from 921 in 2018 to 876 last year. That’s the third year in a row the annual number has decreased.

There were 118 motorcycle fatalities, which was a 10 percent increase from 2018. There were also 108 pedestrian traffic deaths, the highest number in 10 years.
