State transportation officials are alerting Mizzou football fans and other motorists to be aware of possible delays Thursday on I-70 between Columbia and Kingdom City.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has crews working on the $405-million project to rebuild and six-lane I-70 between Columbia and Kingdom City. MoDOT is encouraging Mizzou football fans and others who will be traveling on westbound I-70 to leave early today and allow for extra time through the work zone. Motorists will see barrier walls on westbound I-70 between the 137 and 144 mile markers. You’ll also have reduced speeds and you’ll notice narrower lanes.
MoDOT will keep two lanes of traffic on westbound I-70 in that area open until 7 tonight, when one lane will close. Both lanes of eastbound I-70 in that area will remain open.
State Rep. Jim Schulte (R-New Bloomfield) has been urging motorists to be patient, telling 939 the Eagle that it will be a win-win when I-70 is completed.
