More rainfall could present more flood potential

A flash flood watch remains in effect for most of mid-Missouri until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Some areas of mid-Missouri still have flooded roads after heavy rainfall from the weekend. Assistant Boone County Fire Chief Gale Blomenkamp says drivers need to stay alert.

“Not every road that’s flooded is going to have a sign that says ‘Road Closed,’ so people need to really pay attention, especially at night,” said Blomenkamp on Wake Up Columbia.

Blomenkamp says his department had to pull several people out of flood waters over the weekend. Columbia Regional Airport recorded more than six inches of rain between Friday and Sunday.
