Missouri health officials have adopted the CDC’s recommendation for children ages 5-11 to receive the Pfizer COVID vaccine.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) says the vaccine for children ages 5-11 is a smaller dose, one-third of the dosage for those 12 and older.
DHSS Director Donald Kauerauf says it’s important for parents to make an informed decision based on factual, scientific information, and not what’s in a social media feed. He encourages parents to discuss this issue with their child’s pediatrician.
More than 533,000 Missouri children ages five to 11 are now eligible for COVID vaccination. The Pfizer vaccine is administered in two doses, three weeks apart.
