Motorcycle driver dies in south Columbia crash

Authorities have released the name of the motorcycle driver who died in a head-on crash in south Columbia.

Deputies say Austin Sweet, 31, of Columbia was speeding on West Old Plank Road near Route K just before 8 p.m. Tuesday. His motorcycle crashed head-on into an SUV that was turning left into a convenience store.

Sweet was pronounced dead at the scene. No one in the SUV was hurt.
