MSHSAA cancels large-school state basketball championships

MSHSAA has canceled the large-school state basketball championships, over growing concerns about the novel coronavirus.

The state athletics association says Sunday’s recommendation from the CDC to limit groups of more than 50 people played a factor.

The small-school final four wrapped up on Saturday in Springfield, in front of limited crowds. The Rock Bridge girls qualified for the state semifinals in Class 5, and the Helias boys made it in Class 4.

MSHSAA has not canceled spring sports yet.
