MU announces $5 million gift for journalism school, botanic garden

The University of Missouri announced Monday it has received a $5 million gift from Pat and Sandy Hiatte.

The money will be split evenly, with half going to the MU School of Journalism and the other half going to the Mizzou Botanic Garden.

“We’re so grateful to Pat and Sandy Hiatte for their generous gift, which celebrates Mizzou’s comprehensive excellence,” said University of Missouri President and Chancellor Mun Choi. “From our world-class School of Journalism to our unrivaled campus beauty, MU is dedicated to achieving excellence at every level. This gift ensures the continuity of our commitment.”

Pat Hiatte graduated from Mizzou’s journalism school in 1973. Sandy studied social work at Mizzou and finished her degree at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
