MU students to learn remotely after Thanksgiving

Students at the University of Missouri will learn remotely following Thanksgiving break.

MU Chancellor and system president Mun Choi said Thursday the change is due to the spike of coronavirus cases and hospital admissions in Columbia and Boone County, not necessarily on campus. A total of 2,153 students have tested positive for coronavirus since mid-August, but none have needed hospitalization. As of Thursday, there are 165 active cases among students.

Choi said most undergraduate and graduate classes will continue in-person through Nov. 20, then switch to online-only. Students that go home for Thanksgiving are encouraged to not return to campus until the start of the next semester in January. Dorms and dining halls will still be open for students that cannot go home. Other campus facilities will also remain open in some capacity.
