Murder charge in Jefferson City shooting death

Jefferson City Police say a shooting death last month was part of a drug deal gone wrong.

Prosecutors charged 20-year-old Semaj Harris of Jefferson City Monday with counts of second-degree murder and first-degree burglary. Police say Harris was involved in a drug deal that led to the shooting death of Nilez Nichols on November 19th. Witnesses saw three men fleeing the scene of the shooting on Stadium Boulevard, and investigators say they expect more people to be charged in the case.

Harris is being held in the Cole County Jail on unrelated charges. His bond on the new charges is $100,000.
