National Guard general supports JC port idea

You may see a mid-Missouri river port go in near the Missouri National Guard’s training center east of Jefferson City.

Adjutant General-Major General Steve Danner thinks it would be a good fit.

“I grew up on the farm. I watch these prices. I see what’s happening, and what’s going on with our crops and everything this year,” Danner says. “Any time you can save a few cents a bushel, that goes right in to the farmers’ pockets.”

National Guard engineers train on the Missouri River with personnel from the Army’s Engineering School at Fort Wood.

A state commission this month approved an application to create a port authority at the capital.
