New Mizzou provost looks to boost enrollment

The new provost at Mizzou keeps a close eye on the bottom line.

Latha Ramchand has a Ph.D in business, and a background in the banking industry. She started at Mizzou in August.

“It’s not a business, but you need to think about resource allocation. You need to think about incentives. You need to think about managing people,” Ramchand says.

Ramchand says a provost is like the chief operating officer for the university. She says her goals this year include boosting research, improving learning opportunities and diversity, and making sure MU is using its facilities in an efficient way.

“Mizzou went through some tough times, but I think we’ve turned around the corner, and there is a huge opportunity to share with people outside what is really unique about this place.”
