Mizzou’s new women’s basketball coach is a familiar name in the Southeastern Conference and in Missouri.
Mizzou has announced that former Tennessee and Missouri State coach Kellie Harper will be the fifth head coach in Mizzou history. The 47-year-old Harper has been a Division 1 head coach for 20 seasons, leading her teams to nine NCAA tournament appearances. Harper coached at Tennessee from 2019-2024. She also coached at Missouri State in Springfield from 2013-2019.
Tiger athletic director Laird Veatch praises Harper, describing her as nationally respected with experience in the SEC and deep ties to the Show-Me State. Veatch says Coach Harper is a proven winner and dynamic leader.
UM System president Dr. Mun Choi says Harper has developed a championship culture throughout her career. Harper will be formally introduced at a press conference at Mizzou Arena. A date for that hasn’t been announced yet.
