No arrests in weekend shooting in downtown Columbia

Columbia Police say two people suffered non-life threatening injuries in that early-morning shooting on Sunday on South 10th street downtown. No arrests have been made.

ABC-17’s Ben Fein reports the incident happened at about 12:45 Sunday morning near near Harpo’s. He was on-scene moments after the shooting, and saw officers interviewing multiple witnesses and gathering video from nearby businesses.

Fein also reports at least one parked car was struck by several bullets, which shattered the vehicle’s back and side windows.

Harpo’s general manager Charlie Smith says he and other Harpo’s employees heard the gunfire, and immediately put the club on lockdown.

“As soon as we heard that, we just followed protocols, we locked down the building, we escorted all the staff and guests down to the basement, until CPD arrived and secured the scene,” Smith tells KMIZ.

He also says the altercation did not start inside of Harpo’s, nor did the shooting take place directly in front of it.
