No serious injuries are reported in this morning’s fire within self-storage units on Columbia’s Nebraska Avenue, near I-70.
The fire broke out at about 5:15 this morning. Columbia fire chief Clayton Farr tells 939 the Eagle that firefighters located heavy fire and smoke conditions upon arrival. Chief Farr says crews used several hose lines to control and extinguish the fire. The chief does not have a damage estimate yet, and the fire’s origin remains under investigation.
The fire’s smoke impacted visibility for some residents on nearby I-70. The fire and smoke also forced Nebraska Avenue and the I-70 complex to be closed for a few hours.
