Northern Missouri businessman who’s donated millions of dollars to Mizzou Athletics receives honorary degree

A well-known north Missouri businessman known for his work at Walsworth Publishing and at Chillicothe’s Citizens Bank and Trust has received an honorary degree from the University of Missouri.

Don Walsworth of Marceline has donated millions of dollars to Mizzou’s athletic department over the years. He received the honorary degree this weekend. Mr. Walsworth and his family have donated more than $15-million to Mizzou over the years. That includes an $8-million donation in 2013 that funded improvements at Memorial Stadium and a new, state-of-the-art clubhouse at the Club at Old Hawthorne.

More than 5,500 University of Missouri students earned their diplomas this weekend in Columbia, during 14 commencement exercises on campus. Four honorary degrees were presented as well, including the one to Mr. Walsworth. Don Walworth has also been inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.
