Mid-Missouri’s two largest school districts and smaller, rural districts are among the numerous schools and closed on Friday, due to the winter storm.
Columbia Public Schools, Jefferson City Public Schools (JCPS), Tolton Catholic in Columbia, Southern Boone R-1 in Ashland, Sturgeon R-5 and Morgan County R-2 in Versailles are just a few of the closings.
CPS’ Michelle Baumstark says the timing of overnight snow accumulation made it difficult to ensure safe travel this morning and guarantee that lots and sidewalks would be ready for the students and staff. Because of today’s snow day, CPS will now have a full day of school on April 13. That was originally scheduled to be an early release day.
