You’ll likely need your umbrella all week in mid-Missouri.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in St. Louis says precipitation is expected Sunday night and Monday in Columbia and Jefferson City, and there is a chance of rain every day until dry weather returns on Saturday. NWS St. Louis meteorologist Brad Charbonneau tells 939 the Eagle that while mid-Missouri will likely see storms this week, severe weather is not expected at this time.

We’ve had several weeks of dry weather after the first ten days of July, which were very wet. Columbia saw flash flooding that caused two drowning deaths in early July. Mr. Charbonneau tells 939 the Eagle that Columbia saw 11.23 inches of rain in July, which is just short of the all-time record. Columbia received a record 12.14 inches of rain in July 1981.
