October 19 emergency town meeting planned in Columbia, to address growing fentanyl-related overdose deaths

Columbia Police are warning recreational and regular drug users about the increasing number of fentanyl-related overdoses in the city.

Police Chief Geoff Jones, CPD, Columbia firefighters and the health department have organized an October 19 emergency town meeting at Hickman High School, to raise awareness about fentanyl being found in multiple drugs, including cocaine. Chief Jones says there have been 22 Columbia deaths from overdoses involving fentanyl.

Tuesday night’s meeting begins at 7. Narcan will be distributed at the meeting. Narcan is used to rapidly reverse opioid overdoses.
