Moberly man dead after Jefferson City police-involved shooting

A Moberly man is dead after a shooting involving officers in Jefferson City.

The Highway Patrol says two cops pulled over Clay Willingham for expired tags on West Truman Boulevard near Capital Mall at around 1:45 p.m. Monday. When the officers approached his car, he showed a rifle. Willingham refused the officers’ commands to drop the gun, and the officers shot him.

Willingham, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were hurt. The Highway Patrol is still investigating.
