Man still in hospital after northern Boone County shooting

More info is out regarding the shooting north of Columbia Tuesday night.

The sheriff’s department says a man is still in critical condition at the hospital after getting shot multiple times.

Deputies caught the guy believed to have fired the shots, then eventually let him go.

Authorities believe the victim was involved in an arranged meeting with several armed people that escalated, leading to the shooting. It took place near Heuer’s Country Store and Café at the intersection of Highway 63 and Route 124.

The sheriff’s department is still investigating.
