Pandemic and building material shortage cause Schnucks to delay opening of new Columbia store

The pandemic and a shortage of materials have caused Schnucks to delay the opening of its store on Clark Lane near the Lake of the Woods exit in east Columbia.

Schnucks spokesman Paul Simon tells 939 the Eagle that the pandemic has caused construction delays, and that it’s been difficult to get building materials and refrigeration equipment.

Schnucks plans to hire 80 employees for the new store, which is now expected to open in early 2022. The store will also have a CVS pharmacy inside.

Mr. Simon encourages interested applicants for jobs to attend Thursday’s job fair from 1-5 at the Columbia Forum store or the Jefferson City location. Bring your resume.
