Governor Parson is urging lawmakers to agree to a special session aimed at extending the FRA.
Parson said Monday the program is crucial to keeping Medicaid funding alive in Missouri.
“Come July 1, if FRA is not extended, my administration will be forced to make budget restrictions across state government,” said Parson.
Parson said those restrictions could total around $1.4 billion over the next two budget years. Republicans in the legislature have been hesitant to pass an extension for the tax, claiming some of the funds go toward abortions.
The current FRA expires on Oct. 1.
