Parson: state operations will continue uninterrupted, despite Monday’s blaze in Jefferson City

Missouri’s governor says there were no injuries in Monday night’s fire that destroyed a leased state facility in Jefferson City.

The building on East Elm housed the state Office of Administration’s (OA) Information Technology Services Division (ITSD), the division that handles computers for the state. It also housed some employees of the Children’s Division, which is part of the state Department of Social Services (DSS).

Governor Mike Parson says state operations and services will continue uninterrupted, adding that OA is working with impacted agencies to relocate state employees to alternative work locations. The governor says computer equipment that was destroyed will be replaced.

DSS Acting Director Robert Knodell says material items and equipment can be replaced, but state employees are invaluable. He’s thankful there were no injuries.
