Parson wants state employees to get raise

The Missouri governor wants to make sure state government staffers see a little more on payday.

In his State of the State message, Mike Parson called on legislators to okay a three percent pay hike. He also says he plans to leave some open state jobs unfilled.

“If these departments and these workers are willing to come up with good ideas, then I think they should be rewarded for actually streamlining their departments and doing a good job.”

Parson says one of his priorities is getting state workers out of the basement when it comes to pay. Missouri currently ranks right at the bottom of the list.
