Parson’s budget features $21 million for childhood development

Governor Parson’s proposed budget would help 1,529 Missouri families with early childhood development services.

Alison Gee with the Parents as Teachers organization says parenting education needs in Missouri’s rural areas might be a little different, but the demand is just as great.

“The poverty, the homelessness, the opioid substance abuse issues, the lack of resources,” she said. “They’re in as much need as some of our inner city communities.”

Parson wants 21-million dollars for the program that would help the families with children from birth to three years old with things like parenting education and screenings for disabilities.
