Plane slides off snowy Columbia Regional runway

A plane slides off the runway at Columbia Regional Airport.

The city says the American Airlines plane inbound from Dallas-Ft. Worth landed safely at about 2:30 p.m. Friday. The front gear left the pavement during snowy conditions while exiting the main runway though and got stuck.

None of the 80 passengers on board were hurt, and no fuel or fluid leaked from the plane.

Columbia Regional Airport was closed as of late Friday afternoon because of the winter storm.
