Man suffers life-threatening injuries after pole attack

A man is suffering life-threatening injuries after he was assaulted with a pole early Monday morning.

Columbia police said the victim was attacked at the U.S. Post Office on Walnut Street at about 1:30 a.m. Monday and was transported to the hospital.

Eddie Linzie, 43, was arrested for assault and armed criminal action.

The victim’s identity has not been released.
