Police officer assaulted at Macon Lake

The Macon Police Department is looking for the man who knocked one of its officers unconscious.

Investigators say the officer was patrolling the Macon Lake area at 11:50 p.m. Monday and saw a suspicious person at the boat ramp. He pulled his gun, and got hit from behind by a second suspect.

Backups set up a perimeter when they got to the lake, but did not find anyone. The injured officer had to go to the hospital.
