Prosecuting attorney says no charges for man who killed Harris

The man who killed Ahmonta Harris in November would not have faced charges if he were still alive.

Boone County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Knight told ABC 17 News Deonte Gainwell killed Harris in self-defense.

The 20-year-old Gainwell was shot to death earlier this month in Columbia.  Police haven’t named any suspects in that case.

The initial incident happened when an armed Harris tried to rob Gainwell’s home.  An autopsy revealed Harris died from gunshot wounds to the head.
