A Vietnam veteran Army nurse tells area vets to keep their heads high and to be proud of their accomplishments.
Donna Rowe was the featured speaker at Jefferson City’s Operation Bugle Boy event on Thursday night. She remembers coming home from Vietnam in 1970 was no fun.
“When we came home, the press painted us as misfits, drug addicts, dropouts, and not worth anything. And the country treated us that way.”
The event recognized combat-wounded Purple Heart recipients in the crowd.
