This week’s wet weather has impacted state transportation crews trying to patch potholes across Missouri.

There were numerous snow and ice storms in February across the Show-Me State, and state Department of Transportation (MoDOT) crews have been working to patch them as quickly as possible.

MoDOT is urging you to slow down when you see crews making repairs. If you see a pothole on a state-maintained road, you’re urged to call 1-888-ASK-MODOT. That is 1-888-275-6636.

Potholes form when rain and snow leave moisture that seeps into joints in the pavement and later freezes. Because of fluctuating temperatures, MoDOT has had to focus on short-term repairs, until temperatures remain warm for a prolonged period.

MoDOT spent $18-million patching 530,000 potholes in 2021.
