Randolph County’s sheriff is putting out a scam alert.
Mark Nichols says someone is using the phone number from the courthouse pretending to be a defense attorney. The scammer says you owe him for representing you, and if you don’t pay he’s getting a warrant for your arrest.
The sheriff says common scams from people pretending to be with the IRS, or Publishers Clearing House, are going around again too.
Never give out personal info over the phone.
