November is National Adoption Awareness Month.
Shonette Koebel from La Monte in the Sedalia area has adopted seven of her eleven children.
“I honestly cannot imagine my life without these kids,” Koebel says. “I am so blessed because of adoption.”
More than 1,200 Missouri kids are waiting to be adopted. Koebel says she hopes to see more support some day for those that age out of the foster care system.
“What’s sad is a lot of these times these kids that age out of the system, their kids end up back in the system, and they’re going to be incarcerated or on drugs or commit suicide.”
