Report: GM making $1.5 billion investment in Wentzville plant

A big Missouri plant for pickups is about to get even bigger.

The Post-Dispatch reports General Motors has agreed to make a $1.5 billion investment in Wentzville. There’s no promise of new jobs, but the facility would retain at least 2,000 of its hourly workers.

That plant makes Chevy Colorados and GMC Canyons. State lawmakers agreed to millions of dollars in tax breaks if GM expanded the Wentzville plant.

GM and union negotiators have been trying to end a weeks-long strike. Union members vote on a tentative deal this week.
