Columbia Police are praising retired CPD K-9 Gorrit.
CPD has announced that the 11-year-old Dutch shepherd has passed away, saying the K-9 served the Columbia community with dedication and skill from 2015 until his retirement in January.
Columbia Police say throughout his decade of service, Gorrit was partnered with Columbia Police Sergeant Jamie Dowler, adding that it formed a bond that went far beyond the job. Following his retirement, CPD says Gorrit enjoyed his days at home with Sergeant Dowler and his family.
