Rising water watch continues in Hartsburg

Sandbaggers were back at it on Wednesday in Hartsburg. They’re trying to keep the rising Missouri River away from the southern Boone County town and the Katy Trail.

Levee district president Orion Beckmeyer says the water is getting dangerously high.

“Anybody that’s still got some stuff down here to get out…it’s time to evacuate for sure,” Beckmeyer said on Wake Up Columbia on Wednesday morning while calling in from a levee near Hartsburg Bottom Road and Hart Creek. “So far, the town of Hartsburg is dry.”

Beckmeyer said Wednesday morning the levee is showing some holes on Hartsburg Bottom Road at Hart Creek, but no breach yet.
