River levels drop as disaster recovery continues

The Missouri River dropped below major flood stage of 30 feet in Jefferson City over the weekend. It was below 29 feet as of early Monday.

State worker parking lots in the Capitol Complex are drying out and the free shuttle service has been discontinued. The flooded intersection along West McCarty has reopened as well.

Cooper’s Landing in Boone County is one of the businesses along the river not ready to open yet. A social media post says the Katy Trail is still too muddy, and the damage at the store was greater than they had hoped.

Officials say cleanup from the flood and May’s tornado could still take months.

A check presentation was scheduled on Monday at 7 p.m. in California for local tornado victims. Neighbors Helping Neighbors says it went past its fundraising goal of $8,000. The event is with the California Womens Business Council at the events center on South Oak.

93.9 The Eagle’s radiothon for disaster relief is on Friday.
