Roll cart supporters to rally outside Columbia City Hall

You will see supporters of roll carts for trash rallying outside Columbia City Hall before Monday evening’s council meeting.

They are gathering signatures for a petition push to get the issue on your ballot later this year. The council is banned from even talking about roll carts, thanks to a vote in 2016.

Organizer Kristin Hill with the Facebook group Columbia MO Citizens for Roll Carts says on Wake Up Columbia the ballot language in 2016 was confusing, plus she thinks voter attitudes have changed since then.

“You have people who were against roll carts, and have now said ‘You know what? I’ve learned a little bit and this is bad for the environment. It’s terrible for the workers, how they have to work. And I think roll carts are the way to go.'”

Hill says her group is more than halfway toward its goal of 4,000 petition signatures.
