Traffic is back to normal on the Route 22 bridge east of Centralia over Youngs Creek.
MoDot got word on Tuesday about a hole in the bridge deck on the westbound side.
“As pavement expands and contracts, especially when moisture gets in the roadway, it can cause damage to the integrity of the road and bridges,” says MoDOT Northeast District Engineer Paula Gough.
Crews fixed the 67-year-old bridge by about midnight Wednesday.
