Rowden expects lots of action in Missouri Senate soon

(Missourinet) It’s “go time” in the Missouri Senate.

The legislative session ends in about six weeks.

Columbia’s Caleb Rowden is Senate majority leader. He says expect the pace to pick up starting this week.

“I think we’re in a good spot on a lot of stuff, and I think barring the proverbial Senate meltdown that has happened a few times in the past I think we’re going to be happy with where we end up in the middle of May.”

The Senate is still looking at Governor Parson’s plan to issue 350-million dollars in bonds to fix up state bridges. The House version of the budget did not include the bonds, but did have $100 million in general revenue for infrastructure.

Rowden says he also expects a focus on issues like tort reform and prescription drug monitoring.
