Rowden optimistic about 2019 state budget

A newly-powerful local lawmaker says he’ll waste no time getting right to the state budget as soon as he gets back to the Missouri Capitol in January.

“By the time refund time comes and tax time comes in April that will kind of resolve itself,” incoming Senate Majority Leader Caleb Rowden says. “I think we could end the year strong, and we’re all kind of hoping that that is the case.”

The Columbia Republican says incoming revenue is slightly down for the year. He says the problem was artificially created by some government-generated withholding tables.
