The familiar red kettles and bells are out as the Salvation Army starts its annual drive for cash.
Jefferson City Lieutenant Dan White says the need is year-round.
“We’re doing the same things that we do every single day of the year,” White said. “Our shelter’s been open for 19 years now, and it hasn’t been closed for a day since we opened it in those 19 years.”
The red kettle campaign is just one of the Salvation Army’s fund raisers this year. There is an auction for hand-decorated former red kettles, for example.
