St. Louis-based Schnucks has hired about 80 employees for its new Battle Crossing store in northeast Columbia, which opens Wednesday morning. The store is located on Clark lane, near I-70’s busy Lake of the Woods exit.
They still have several openings. The store will open at 7 am tomorrow, and a ribbon-cutting will follow two hours later at 9. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is open to the public. Schnucks chief executive officer Todd Schnuck, Columbia Mayor Brian Treece and the Battle high school jazz band will be there.
The new 48,000 square foot store will have a heavy focus on fresh departments like meat, deli, bakery and produce. It will also include an expanded prepared hot food menu, with an indoor seating area.
Chuck Murphy will manage the new store: he relocates from Schnucks’ popular EatWell in Columbia.
