Second special prosecutor appointed over Greitens case

(AP) – Last year’s criminal case involving Missouri’s former governor is under the scrutiny of a second special prosecutor, this time to investigate allegations from St. Louis’ prosecutor.

A judge on Tuesday appointed retired Judge Michael Bradley of Columbia to investigate allegations filed against Republican Eric Greitens’ attorneys by Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner. She alleges that Greitens’ attorneys threatened to “ruin” her if she didn’t back off the investigation of Greitens.

Gardner charged Greitens with invasion of privacy in February 2018 for allegedly taking a compromising and unauthorized photo of a woman during an extramarital affair. The charge was later dropped but Greitens resigned in June 2018.

Last month, a separate special prosecutor appointed over concerns from Greitens’ attorneys indicted an investigator hired by Gardner, William Tisaby, for perjury. That investigation continues.
