Security update given to Columbia board of education

The Columbia Public Schools Board of Education got a security update during Monday night’s meeting.

The Daily Tribune reports the district’s security officer said there are card reader locks, and security film on windows of CPS buildings.

He added the district is hiring someone to oversee security cameras and other systems, and is reviewing other things that could be done to keep kids safe.

The board discussed whether metal detectors made sense in district buildings, but did not take a vote on that idea.
