Man convicted in 2019 Columbia murder gets 10 years in prison

One of the men convicted of a central Columbia killing will spend 10 years in prison.

Aaron Harris, 28, learned his prison sentence Thursday morning. He pleaded guilty in March to second degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon in the 2019 death of 19-year-old E’Quan Spain.

Prosecutors say Harris was driving a car near Fifth Street and Park Avenue in central Columbia, with Spain and Michael Anderson in the back seat. They all allegedly shot at another car, and Anderson shot Spain in the head.

Anderson died in prison on Feb. 6, 2020.
