More than 300 job seekers and students packed a Thursday job and education expo in Boonville, dropping off resumes to work at Kawasaki and dozens of other Boonville-area employers.

Boonville economic development director Gigi Quinlan McAreavy praises the Isle of Capri for providing space for the event. Caterpillar, Central Bank, the Boonville School District, the Missouri Department of Corrections, Mizzou and C&R supermarket were some of the other employers on-hand.

Many of the applicants dropped off resumes for Kawasaki, which plans to open its Boonville plant in May 2022. They’ll make general purpose engines at the former Nordyne facility.

59 exhibiters were on-hand for Thursday’s event.
