The Boone County Sheriff’s Department confirms it is investigating Columbia City Councilman Ian Thomas.
The Missouri Attorney General requested that investigation a few weeks ago.
Thomas reported himself to the Missouri Ethics Commission last November over a possibly illegal deal with a developer. Thomas agreed to support the Oakland Crossings project, if the developer made a donation to Columbia Community Land Trust for affordable housing.
A sheriff’s department spokesman says the investigation continues. It’s not clear yet if Thomas will face criminal charges.
