19 Columbia snow plow operators will be plowing throughout the night to pre-treat roads and to start plowing snow that is expected to fall quickly overnight. The crews have been busy all week dealing with ice, sleet and snow and now are dealing with a new winter storm.
Columbia Public Works crews are focusing on maintaining first, second and third priority routes in passable condition throughout the night. Crews are urging you to reduce your speeds on Friday morning, if you have to travel. They also urge you to avoid sudden braking and to maintain safe following distances.
Plow drivers have been working 12-hour shifts, and many have been plowing since Saturday afternoon.
