Some Jefferson City commissions to vote electronically

Would you volunteer to serve on a city commission if it wasn’t for the time commitment?

The Jefferson City Council has narrowly approved a plan to allow those committees to vote electronically.

“It was kind of a push from some citizens that served on there who have a strong desire to serve on these committees, but the time of the meeting may make it difficult,” Councilman Ken Hussey says.

Some advisory groups can now vote online like by video conference, or over the phone. City officials say they have ongoing challenges in finding volunteers to staff those committees.
